Bailey Glaze Fire Optimal Damper Position

Fired the Bailey glaze kiln in 10 hrs. 43 minutes with 30 minutes reduction at the end. Used 11 % propane at maximum 8″ water column gas pressure.

Seems to be firing more efficiently ever since I set the damper so the bottom peephole had a slight flame exiting instead of a neutral flame damper setting that I previously used. Measured the optimal rate of temperature climb at various pressure conditions to come to this conclusion.

Rolled out 2 – 21″ x 31″ x 3/8″ Bmix slabs for a vase requested by a customer. Also rolled out a slab for the base of the vase.

Finished glazing and loaded the Bailey kiln for a glaze firing tomorrow.

Glazed all day and will continue tomorrow.
